– Intro / Brief Overview
What’s up everybody, welcome to Magic For Beginners, my name is Keith and in today’s video we’re going to be looking at the latest release from Vinny Sagoo at Neo Magic and this is spin.
– What Is The Routine/Trick?
So what is the trick or routine? Basically this is a badge which attaches via two magnets so can be used on any clothing and it’s a badge which has magician wrote on it. However, it holds a secret as you can do a magic trick and then use the badge to reveal and ace of spades on the badge! It’s a great little ice breaker for magicians who are scared about approaching a table or group of people to perform for them.
– How Much Does It Cost?
How much is this trick? It’s available directly from Neo Magic for £15 and it’s available online on their store now.
– What Do You Get With It?
What do you get with Spin? You get the badge itself which of course shows as magician one way and when you turn it the other way, it says ace of spades. You also get a magnet attached to the badge and another one to use to attach the badge to your clothing too and there’s also the instructions of how to use this, but to be fair it is pretty self explanatory.

– Is It Easy To Perform and where can you perform it?
Let’s talk about ease of performing and when and where you can perform it. Firstly, it’s super simple and very easy to perform and you can perform this pretty much anywhere. Of course, the badge element is easy to do but needs some magic on your behalf to make it work. This can either be done by a simple force some mentalism effect or even most of the time if you ask a male to name a card it’ll be the ace of spades. For me personally, I usually use the riffle force for something like this, but a cross cut force works equally as good.
– Can You Inspect It?
Can it be passed out to be inspected? Of course it can, as it’s just a badge with magnets on there and you won’t give away any ‘magic secrets’ when they look at it.
– Is It Well Made?
Is it well made? Yep it is well made and should last a long time when used properly. I would’ve advise throwing it in your pocket with your keys as it might scratch the front but I can’t see why this wouldn’t last a long time when using for performances and being stored away correctly. The magnets are fairly strong too and should last a long time.
– Positives
Let’s talk about some positives. The price is cheap for a prop which is something you can wear all of the time and get some decent mileage out of it for tricks. It’s really easy to perform as you’re just rotating the badge so anyone at all can do this trick or doing the reveal from magician to ace of spades. It’s a fantastic idea I think and love something simple like this to be used as a talking point to strangers and I’m going to try and implement this into my EDC too.
– Negatives
Let’s talk about negatives as with all things there’s got to be some drawbacks to good things and for me this comes in the shape of the magnets. While they’re a good idea and what’s needed for the trick, I know from using magnetic microphones for video work, they can be a bit fiddly and have the potential to get lost and as these are much smaller than the microphone magnets I’m used to, I’ll probably end up losing mine, but I’ll just have to get some spares, which Vinny also sells on his web site so you can get the right size etc.
