– Intro / Brief Overview
What’s up everybody, welcome to Magic For Beginners, my name is Keith and in this video we’re going to be looking at these Elton John playing cards by Bicycle. This deck is made in the USA by Bicycle, it features an air cushion finish and comes with custom court cards and recoloured pips too. These were sent to me by Bicycle and were released on the 24th of May and you can grab your deck from the Elton John official web site which is also linked in the description below. So let’s get into it.
– How Much Are They?
So how much do these cost then? On the Elton John official store, these are £12.99 in the UK or $14.99 in the US store. Again, the link to these cards are in their description of the video too.
– Tuck Case
Let’s talk about and look at the tuck case for this fantastic deck. The main colours of the deck is a black and gold design and features some purple accents such as the Bicycle logo and the Rocket Man text on the front of the tuck. There’s a large Elton John E logo in the middle and Elton John on the bottom. There’s a great piano design down either side of the front and that carries onto the side too along with Elton’s name too. The back of the tuck case features the back of the card design which features the piano, stars and Rocket Man and Elton John text. There’s the usual USPCC ad copy on the bottom too.
– Backs Of Cards
Let’s take a closer look at the backs of the cards. As stated about the back of the tuck case, there’s stars, pianos, Elton’s name and reference to Rocket Man all over the backs. It’s a nice white bordered design, with a golden vinyl record in the middle and there’s the Elton E logo on either side along with the pips in each corner of the deck. Due to the pips being this way, it means that it’s a one way back design, so perfect for those one way back design tricks.
– Additional Cards?
You get some extras cards included in the deck which includes a Elton John Bicycle advert card which is a purple and white version of the front of the tuck case, you also get a double backer card, and two jokers. They’re identical in terms of design, but one is a purple design and one is a pink design.
– Looking Through The Deck
There’s a custom Ace Of Spades which features the Elton John E logo along with his name, the Bicycle logo and Rocket Man text and the giant custom pip in the middle of the card too. The other three aces are standard apart from they all have a rocket flying around the centre pip which is great. You’ll notice too that the colours are not your standard black and red for the pips but instead it’s purple for the spades and clubs and pink for hearts and diamonds. On the number cards, all of the pips on the inside have a border around them too.
The court cards are all custom and feature Elton John on each one, but feature a large number of different styles and looks that Elton has had over the years and there’s some fantastic glasses and outfits included on them, as if you know Elton, you’ll know he has a very vibrant sense of style.
Before we head on with the video, it would be great to have a subscribe to the channel, as it would help massively to push out my videos to new people and please leave a comment below with your favourite Elton John song too, for me it has to be Tiny Dancer, what an absolute banger.
– How Do They Handle?
Let’s talk about handling of the cards and as per usual with Bicycle cards, they are fantastic to handle right out of the box and shuffle well, handle sleights well and are just an overall pleasure to use.
– Conclusions
So what do I think of the deck? I think it’s a fantastic deck, I love the little touches included in the design especially the piano design and the gold just pops out so much from the black. If I was to change one thing, I’d amend the pips to enable the deck to have a two way back design rather than a one way back design, but that’s just personal preference and doesn’t take away from the deck at all.
I have some other fantastic deck reviews coming to the channel soon, including a bunch of other Bicycle cards as I recently became a official UK Bicycle playing cards ambassador which means I get early access to decks like this to get my hands on and see what they’re like before they’re released to anyone else which is such a massive privilege, so if you want a sneak peak of what’s to come check out the video on the screen which features a box of cards I got from Bicycle when I became a UK Ambassador for them and until next time, see ya!
